Recent Incident of OceanGate Titan Submarine

Before we start talking about the event, let's first learn what OceanGate is. OceanGate is a company that privately owns and focuses on exploring and studying the deep ocean. They have a group of submarines that people can go in, and can go really deep down in the ocean.

The Incident

Now, let's talk about the interesting and important parts of the incident. During a regular dive to explore the wreck of the Titanic, OceanGate's underwater vehicle, the Titan, had a problem with its communication system. This caused the surface support team to lose contact.

As the underwater vehicle kept going down, it faced powerful water movements that made it go in  a different direction. The people in the submersible worked hard to get back control, but sadly,  they couldn't succeed.

The Rescue Mission

When the team on the ground realized they couldn't communicate with the Titan anymore, they immediately started doing something about it. They quickly got in touch with the Coast Guard and the Navy to ask for help.

The Navy sent a group of people who can swim underwater and a robot to help with rescuing. We used a special underwater robot, called an ROV, to find the Titan and connect a rope to it. The divers used a rope to connect the Titan to a boat or ship on the surface.

Five people died in the submarine called the Titanic.

On the submarine, there were the boss of the company that runs the submarine, a British businessman and adventurer, a British father and his teenage son from an important Pakistani family, and a French expert on the sea.

on Sunday. government announced new economic policies to stimulate growth. These policies aim to help the economy get better, by increasing spending and cutting taxes. The government hopes these actions will encourage businesses to hire more people and make more investments. It is expected that these policies will have a positive impact on the economy and help it recover from the current recession.  The Coast Guard and the company that operated the underwater vehicle, OceanGate Expeditions, said that they think all five people on board have died.

Stockton Rush

Stockton Rush started OceanGate Expeditions and was the boss of the company that used the submersible. He was driving the boat.

The person became an astronaut and a fighter pilot after they finished studying aerospace engineering at Princeton University in 1984.

I suddenly realized that I didn't want something, and it wasn't about going to space. Rush spoke It was about going to different places and discovering new things. It was about discovering new types of living things. I wanted to be kind of like Captain Kirk. I didn't want to sit in the back seat. And then I understood that the ocean is like a whole other world.

In 2009, he started a private company called OceanGate in Everett, Wash, which is close to Seattle.

Hamish Harding

Hamish Harding is a British businessman and explorer who has achieved multiple Guinness World Records.  One of his records is for spending the most time exploring the deepest part of the ocean in a single dive. He posted on his Facebook page last Saturday that he is happy to share that he joined OceanGate's mission to go down to the Titanic in a submarine.

Mr. Harding, who is 58 years old, was in charge of Action Aviation, a company in Dubai that sells airplanes  and provides flight services. He had gone to space before using Jeff Bezos's rocket company called Blue Origin.

Paul-Henri Nargeolet

Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a person who knows a lot about the ocean, has been on more than 35 trips to the place where the Titanic sank.

Mister Nargeolet was in charge of studying underwater things for a company called RMS Titanic, Inc. This company owns the rights to the famous wreck of the Titanic and shows off many of the things they find in exhibits. The company went on eight research and recovery trips from 1987 to 2010, according to their website.

Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood 

Shahzada Dawood, a businessman from Britain and Pakistan, who is 48 years old, and his son Suleman, who is 19 years old, were part of a very rich family in Pakistan.

Dawood had previous experience in making textiles and fertilizer. According to a school spokesperson, his son was studying business at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. This information was stated in a statement on Thursday.

Mr Dawood and his son were on their way to see the leftovers of the Titanic when they lost contact with the ship. Mr Dawood was also a member of the board of trustees for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute. The organization stated on its website that he lived in Britain and had two kids.

Lessons Learned

The event made OceanGate and the whole deep-sea exploration industry realize they need to pay attention and take action. This has shown that we need to improve how we communicate and have better safety rules.

OceanGate has begun working on making their communication systems better and has promised to be more careful to stop something like this from happening again later on. They have also stressed how important it  is to teach their team members how to deal with unexpected situations and emergencies.
